Having been a keen artist since I was very young, over the years I’ve tried many different mediums and styles, although for 25 years within the time and energy limitations of also working to the tight deadlines of being a self-employed graphic designer. Now happily liberated from those constraints, I’m free to spend more time painting in my home studio in St Margarets, Twickenham.
I’ve also loved walking for many years, and most of the photos I take when I’m away are with a view to using them as inspiration for future paintings… But it was only comparatively recently that I discovered an approach which allowed the materials and the process of painting to trigger landscape memories in my head. Only one of the current Landscapes in Mind series was based on a photograph, or started with a particular place in mind.
I continue to add to these paintings, being constantly amazed and uplifted by where they take me.
